The long-awaited Beccles Southern Relief Road is a 2km road, due to cost around £7 million and to be funded by the New Anglia Local Enterprise Partnership and Suffolk County Council. The road will provide an alternative route to Ellough Industrial Estate from the south and west, stretching from the A145 London Road to Ellough Road (C969). The road is also hoped to help the industrial estate expand and alleviate traffic through the town.
Now due to be completed in 2018 after delays meant construction couldn’t begin as early as hoped. Completion of the road will also facilitate development of the adjacent land into 975 new homes by Larkfleet Homes.
