South Lowestoft Retail Park on Zephyr Cams site (DC/15/5066/FUL)

An application has been submitted to redevelop the derelict Zephyr Cams site in South Lowestoft into a modern retail park including four shops, one cafe and one restaurant. The current site has been vacant for many years.

The application (DC/15/5066/FUL) describes in summary: Demolition of existing buildings and structures and redevelopment to provide 4 retail units, 1 Cafe unit and 1 flexible retail/restaurant unit with associated car parking, servicing, landscaping public realm and pedestrain and vehicular access.

    1. Hopefully it will happen as, rather than it just being a plan with no substance, there are companies actually signed on to go into the units. We can only hope!

  1. What about including a couple of quality affordable ‘Craft studios’ on the site to add a bit of colour and culture – something in short supply in the Town. I work molten glass.

    1. I agree, a focus on culture would be a great addition to Lowestoft. A dedicated area for cultural redevelopment similar to the Great Yarmouth King Street area would be very welcome somewhere in town.

      1. No disrespect but creatives with innovative intent don’t really want to be guided toward crumbling old grade 2 listed buildings, we are designers and makers not conservationists. We are not in the high earning bracket by any means and have much, much more to offer than just rent money for workspace, check out Suffolk open studios this June.

        1. I completely agree with you. It is something I’ve always thought about the area, that those in charge of planning are very quick to reject any development that is seen as too modern. It does nothing to bring any type of creative to the area.
