New plans have been revealed for a £2 million makeover, ahead of a public consultation, for the redevelopment of the area around Great Yarmouth Station, over Vauxhall bridge and up the Conge to Great Yarmouth Marketplace. The new plans show an attractive station forecourt and a continuous, pleasant, pedestrian and cycle route between the station and marketplace.
The consultation will last for one month from 13th February to 13th March 2017 with construction due to begin later this year.
Great Yarmouth Station and Vauxhall Bridge
The area around Great Yarmouth Station will be redeveloped to create a much more pleasant entrance to the town for visitors and provide an obvious route from the station to the marketplace. Some of the current car parking spaces will be removed and redeveloped into a larger and more attractive forecourt, though additional car parking spaces will be created on the opposite side of the road.
Vauxhall Bridge, The Conge to the Marketplace
The area from Vauxhall bridge, through The Conge and up to marketplace is due to be redeveloped to provide new landscaping with planters, trees and seating. Pedestrians and cycles will be given priority at newly configured junctions providing an easy route between the station and the marketplace.
